The school’s essential conversations, curriculum, and award-winning online programs help graduates gain the intellectual flexibility and global experience to fulfill their potential in an ever-changing world of change. This fall of 2022, we will be offering Certificate Programs that will certify your organization to train your staff and or faculty with the educational programs to “Empower learning with educational-focused content and technology learners need to discover new insights and skills.”

The core curriculum cornerstone of Deep Beauty Health & Wellness academic experience, called the essential conversations, is recognized nationally. It restructures the standard college curriculum to increase students’ learning and exposure to classic liberal arts material throughout their learning experience to sow new traditional education in all areas of life. 

The core educational curriculum is 12 courses centered on four themes: Caregiving, Self-Care, Law, and Creative Writing. In addition to social and physical sciences knowledge, the essential conversations in the core educational curriculum focus on skills and knowledge areas necessary to the success of the 21st-century student—Quantitative Reasoning and Scientific Literacy.

How We Got Started

 💞HISTORY 2007 A Caregiver’s Story (CGS) organization was launched by America’s Caregiver Empowerment Strategist,™  Dr. Carolyn A. Brent, and the late John W. Sandifer, JD., of  San Fransisco, California. 

The mission of Caregiver’s Story is to “Empower Learning with Educational-Focused Content”  for caregivers with the knowledge of living a Life of Health, Wellness & Fitness NOW– while caring for  their loved ones. We recognize the importance of families having “Essential Conversations” in preparation for the end-of-life issues they may face; instead of  being torn apart, they can come together as a strong family unit.

CGS inspires and motivates audiences from all walks and in various stages of life regarding end-of-life issues; —whether it’s in a church or corporate setting, speaking to families, adult siblings, singles, women’s groups, men’s groups, hospices, long-term care, assisted living, and senior organizations.

We are committed to educating and empowering caregivers, caretakers, and healthcare providers whose work is vital for the welfare of sick and disabled people. In addition, CGS provides pertinent information that will enrich and support the caregivers’ mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

A Caregiver’s Story is a labor of love. An endeavor of this magnitude requires enormous commitment, time, and resources to operate to its full potential. That is why, from the bottom of my heart, I am asking for your support. Please make our work possible. Your contribution enables us to help families avoid conflict during grieving and loss. By empowering families with knowledge and strategies on how to prepare for end-of-life issues, you give them the resources they need to work together for the good of everyone.

Early Years

Brent passion was ignited when she was caring for her own father, who was diagnosed with dementia in 1997. From that experience, she found that neither she nor her family truly understood the medical challenges related to aging and chronic illness, or the financial and emotional weight of these issues on the family. In 2009 she founded her organization, Caregivers Story, which works to disseminate information through books, speaking engagements and a web-based info portal, to empower families who are being challenged by the need to plan for their aging parents’ medical, financial and legal well-being, as well as dealing with their own heartaches and intra-family dynamics.

Having herself been a victim of “vexatious litigation” initiated by a family member while caring for her father, she has become deeply involved in the national movement to change laws to protect long-term family caregivers from similar malice.

On February 19, 2013, Brent testified before the California State Assembly’s Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care. She told the state legislators her caregiving story, emphasizing the fact that her “father’s wishes were stripped away from him” because a baseless legal action was launched against her and urging them to take action to stop this practice. She is currently working with the legislature to put forward a bill that would make vexatious litigation a felony. (February 13, 2010)

The bill is slated to be enacted into law in 2015. After that, Brent says, “I plan to take my reform across the country, to all the states my daddy defended while fighting for our great country.
