Introduction
God’s Perfect Timing
It is with great honor to have been the chosen one to write Amazing Grace, A Tribute To My Father, Pastor William L. Brent, Th.D., Memoir of His Biblical Teachings. Yes, now is the time and the place for the world to know God’s Amazing Grace, and God is the God of a Second Chance.
If you were to pay me millions of dollars to tell you how I got my hands on my father’s original work? I could not answer that question. I have no idea how I initially got all of my father’s original “hand and typed written” letters & sermons—which are over 30 years old. But, God’s word is the same today—as it was then.
Over the past thirty-plus years, I’ve traveled throughout the country for work and pleasure, and I’ve lived in multiple cities; Denver, Colorado, Seattle, Washington, Southern, and Northern California, and Florida.
With each move, I’ve had my personal belongings shipped from one State to the next. Surely, out of all of my personal belongings that have been shipped, lost, and or stolen, there was one particular file I had, but I never knew of its existence.
A few years ago, while I was writing my latest book Transforming Your Life Through Self-Care, A Guide to Tapping Into Your Deep Beauty and Inner Worth, I ran across a “thick file” of my father’s Biblical teachings by coincidence. I discovered this file in a green filing folder with an overstretched tattered rubber band wrapped around it— while I was looking for something else in my file cabinet where I store archives.
Hmmm, I can only believe my dad must have placed his written sermons in my file cabinet many years ago—because he knew my life’s purpose many years before I realized it. And, he understood that God was calling me, and anointed me to serve humanity.
The Chosen One
A Letter From My Dad
March 9, 1989
11:15 P.M.
Dear Carolyn,
It’s time to finish what God called you to do. The Lord Jesus does not give suggestions —He gives commands. If he has spoken to you to do something—which he has, then do it. No excuses. Find away. Believe for a Miracle. Press on till you win. DON’T QUIT!
It’s time to obey God. God blesses you when you obey him. You have been obedient to God’s Word and said, “And I Will Rebuke The Devourer For Your Sake, And The Devil Shall Not Destroy The Fruits Of Your Ground;” Malachi 3:11.
Paul wrote in II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight.” I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: “There will be a battle—you can expect to fight for anything God has called you to do. Your course or calling is God’s plan for your life. You will answer to God’s calling—you must finish the course you have started. Faith puts you on the High-way with God.
Don’t let go of faith — KEEP IT! Your faith in God will bring you total VICTORY. Stand up now and declare, “I will fight a good fight, I will finish my course, and I will keep the faith. By God’s Grace, nothing will stop me from doing the Will of God for greater is he that is in me than He that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).
Stand your ground against the devil, and stand your ground in the Lord, don’t be robbed of God’s Blessing, for the violent take it by force. So tell yourself, I Am going to make it, I AM going to rise with God’s Power, He has made me an Overcomer, I’M GOING TO REGIN WITH HIS THIS HOUR.
In the Name of Jesus
With God’s Love,
Dad
When You Are Called
In 2015, I ran across this letter from my dad, which made me fall to my knees because I was at one of the lowest points in my life. After undergoing adult sibling revelry, in 2007. Which was brought on by old past and unresolved childhood— relationships. To this day, my adult siblings have never notified me that my beloved dad died or where, and if he was buried or cremated.
While still in excruciating pain of the loss of my beloved dad, Satan wasn’t finished with me yet. I had to deal with a cheating spouse, at the same time, I had to deal with identity theft, which was committed by a former friend because she knew I was distracted from all of the crisis I was enduring.
I discovered that my “so call” friend had stolen my God-Given name; to start a business. Her malicious and nefarious act prompt the IRS to come after me for her unpaid taxes, which was solely caused by the person who stole my identity. I was utterly devastated, confused, with the disbelief of how could a trusted friend commit a crime against me, such as identity theft? Her evil action made no sense to me.
Note: The IRS refunded me fully, and this person is now in the hands of the IRS for tax fraud, and identity theft.
At that time, I knew evil was trying to kill me—through nefarious actions of sin by evil people, my emotions, my physical body, lack of financial means, and my spirit as well as the crushing of my soul. It’s tough for me to describe such agonizing pain and the suffering I endured. My existence in this world was a living nightmare—with on end in sight. Then I cried out, shouted, God! Why is all of this evil happing to me? Where are you, God! I pleaded. I screamed, how can one person bear and go through so much agony and pain in a lifetime? Where are you, God, I shouted!
God answered my cry—and placed on my heart, “Carolyn, you are going through spiritual warfare.” Get to know me, let me guide you through the fire, and your testimony will minister to many. Just trust me. Will you trust me? At that moment, I remembered my dad’s teaching about trusting God, with all your heart “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5.
At that moment, I recognized that I had no other choice because doing things my way definitely wasn’t working. I had to trust God fully and entirely without hesitation.
What I have learned through in my spiritual walk with God—is that I was not an exception to experiencing the wrath of evil and spiritual warfare. Yes, there are no exceptions to anyone facing spiritual warfare, and no one is exempt from it.
When you are dealing with spiritual warfare, evil doesn’t care who you are.
Evil doesn’t care if you are:
Rich or poor, young or old. Wickedness does not care about your ethnicity, race, status, whether you are healthy or sick. Or what sex you are, if you are a good or bad person, highly educated or not. Evil does care about what religion, church, temple, or synagogue of where you fellowship.
And, evil doesn’t care about which of the seven continents you may be residing. There are simply no exceptions to spiritual warfare. Evil is as cruel as the grave. We will delve deep into this topic later in the chapters.
But, when you walk with God and have a relationship and know him for yourself, the Almighty God will deliver you from all evil attacks—when you fully trust him and believe.
Why? Because I know from personal experience, as I have previously mentioned, you can clearly see, all of the attacks I endured from Satan, which has been tremendous, and many—one right after another. But, the good news is that God has delivered me from them all.
Glory! Glory Hallelujah!
I have answered God’s calling. I give God praise for caring for me through the heartache and pain I endured. I thank God that my dad took the time to teach me about the word of God, as he continued encouraging me to develop a relationship with God for my self.
A Life Driven by Divine Purpose
The Man Behind The Vision
Pastor William L. Brent, Th.D., is the inspiration behind the vision, mission, and purpose in the creation of A Caregiver’s Story & Grandpa’s Dream and Deep Beauty Health & Wellness University, LLC. And, now Amazing Grace, God Is The God of A Second Chance. Pastor Brent and his daughter Carolyn books have over 1,067 Library Holdings, 3 Works, and 14 Publications Worldwide.
Pastor Brent lived a life of love for humanity as he ministered the Word of God to people of all ages and backgrounds worldwide. He declares, “God is The God of A Second Chance.” Moreover, we ought to “Love thy neighbor as thy self.” (Leviticus 19:18).
His ministry teaches, “God has created us in his own image” (Genesis 1:27), and he understands everything about us. God knows what is in our hearts, mind, and what is deeply rooted in our souls. He knows our needs, fears, insecurities, worries, and vulnerabilities. Likewise, God knows the desires of our hearts.
Pastor Brent had a special anointing with the spiritual gift of “healing”—by the “laying on of hands” ( Acts 8:14–19) to the sick, elderly, disabled, and he was the voice to the voiceless and comfort to all that knew him.
In this book, Amazing Grace, Pastor Brent explains how God ministers to us— through his unchanging word. This book guides the reader step-by-step on how to apply the Word of God in every area of life—every day, with the complete understanding that God gave us his word— not only to reveal Himself to us but also to care for us.
Amazing Grace will cover how you can develop a deeper relationship with God, in all areas of your life, and how to fight the good “fight of faith” when spiritual warfare attacks or distracts you. Inevitably, you will face many challenges in your walk with God. But, remember, when you walk with God, God will deliver you from them all.
Today, Pastor Brent’s vision and teachings continue, as he passed on the gauntlet to his daughter, Carolyn A. Brent, an award-winning American writer, elder care & caregiver advocate. Through Pastor Brent’s teachings— together, their written work is located in the Library of Congress, the libraries of the University of Oxford, Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, and numerous other medical centers, universities, and retail outlets worldwide.

Special Note
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” New King James Version Ephesians 6:11
With love and only respect, to the unbelievers, naysayers, critics, and antagonists of my written work. I invite and encourage you to write your own book. When you write your own book, you can say whatever you feel is essential for your readers, and you will have the opportunity to write whatever you think should have been mentioned in this publication.
There is one thing I know for sure, God has called me to write Amazing Grace in honor of my father’s Biblical teachings. I am not a bible scholar. However, I am anointed, blessed, and highly favored by God to write this book, and live my life full of divine purpose. Amen, and Amen.
“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it. The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender. He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed. A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.” Bible Gateway Proverbs 22: NIV
My Father’s Spirit will be with me for as long as it takes the Pelican to remove all of the sand off the face of the earth one grain at a time.
Yes, we have an Awesome God!
