I recently attended the “Innovations In Aging 2012″ conference in Maryland as a guest speaker. This event was hosted by the State of Maryland Department of Aging Long Term Care. It was exhilarating to see over 8,000 seniors from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia attend this thought-provoking event. There were professionals in health care, home health, aging networks, caregivers, as well as baby boomers and mature adults seeking encore careers. During the “Innovations In Aging 2012″ event, I was also interviewed by the very gracious and popular JC Hayward of Channel 9.
Impressed by the potential of an event of this magnitude, I came back and wrote a letter to the California state lawmakers expressing my desire to see the State of California implement such thought-provoking events for caregivers in California. What I love about these events is that they not only help protect our seniors, but provide them job opportunities as well.
